My name is Mariam and I am the founder of Child Sleep Guru.
With a young boy, I know first hand what it's like to have interrupted sleep, multiple times a night. I have also experienced inconsistent naps, and difficulties falling asleep independently. I've been that mom, huddled into a corner and crying, being so sleep deprived I can’t even tell you the date, and I lost hope on numerous occasions. Thankfully, I learned my lesson and pursued a career of being a pediatric sleep consultant. The number one thing I have learned, and have told families, is that it WILL get better. Working together we will create a plan to achieve your child’s goals and establish a lifetime of healthy sleep habits. I will be there, step-by-step, to guide you through all of your troubles.
The Importance of Sleep
Getting the proper amount of sleep is crucial for everyone in the family. For babies, sleep is essential for the maturation of the brain and memory. Infants who lack sleep will have frequent night wakings and be crankier throughout the day. Several studies have also shown babies who get less sleep are at higher risk of being overweight. Sleep is just as important as the nutrition they receive.
In toddlers, lack of sleep may cause behavioral issues, frequent tantrums, night terrors, restless leg syndrome, and an increased risk of diabetes. As they get older, problems in school may arise, and various mental disorders may appear such as ADHD and depression.
Even adults need a full night's sleep for their overall health and well being. Lack of sleep impairs performance and will generate poor concentration and mood changes. This is why getting help for your child will benefit the entire family. With your child on a set schedule and sleeping through the night, you will be well rested and your child will benefit from getting the proper amount of day and night.
